These margaritas offer an irresistible flavor with simple prep. Made with añejo tequila, fresh juices, and a touch of sweetness, they’re the perfect homemade drink for any occasion.

- 1 1/2 ounces añejo tequila
- 1 1/2 ounces homemade sweet and sour mix
- 3/4 ounce orange liqueur (cointreau or triple sec)
- 2 cups water (for sweet and sour mix)
- 1 cup granulated sugar (for sweet and sour mix)
- 1/2 cup fresh lime juice (about 5 – 7 small limes)
- 1/2 cup fresh lemon juice (about 2 medium lemons)
Instructions
- Simmer water and sugar in a saucepan until dissolved to create sugar syrup, then let it cool.
- Once cool, stir in fresh lime and lemon juice to make the sweet and sour mix.
- Prepare the glass rim by applying lime juice and kosher salt, then fill the glass with ice.
- In a shaker filled with ice, combine the tequila, sweet and sour mix, and orange liqueur. Shake until cold.
- Strain the mixture into the prepared glass over ice and garnish with a lime wedge.
Notes
For a saltier rim, use more kosher salt on the glass rim.
Adjust the sweetness by modifying the amount of sugar in the sweet and sour mix.
