  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar

  • ¼ cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 3 ¼ cups bread flour
  • 1 ½ tsp salt
  • 3 tbsp unsalted butter (melted, for brushing after baking)
  • Flaky salt (optional)

Instructions

  • Warm the milk to about 110°F.
  • Combine warm milk, sugar, egg, and softened butter in a mixing bowl.
  • Gradually add bread flour and salt to form a soft dough.
  • Knead the dough until smooth and elastic, about 8-10 minutes.
  • Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise until doubled, about 1-1.5 hours.
  • Punch down dough, divide into 15 pieces, and shape into balls.
  • Arrange in a greased pan and let rise until puffy, about 30-45 minutes.
  • Preheat oven to 350°F and bake rolls for 17-18 minutes until golden brown.
  • Brush with melted butter and add flaky salt if desired.

Notes

Use warm milk to activate the yeast properly.
Ensure your dough is slightly tacky for soft rolls.
Experiment with flavors by adding garlic powder or herbs.
