Description

This Chewy Gooey Chocolate Chip Skillet Cookie bakes to perfection, offering a deliciously rich flavor with the convenience of easy preparation. Made with classic ingredients like butter and chocolate chips, it’s a perfect dessert for gatherings or a cozy night in.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 large egg yolks
  • 3 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 10 ounces chocolate chips, milk or semi-sweet, your choice!
  • flaked salt, for topping

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.
  • In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • Heat an oven-safe (preferably cast iron) 12-inch skillet over low heat for 5 minutes. Add the butter to the skillet and let it melt completely.
  • Stir in the brown sugar and white sugar into the melted butter. Turn off the heat under the skillet.
  • In a separate bowl, whisk the egg and egg yolks together. Add them to the skillet mixture and mix quickly to prevent cooking the eggs.
  • Stir in the vanilla extract followed by the dry ingredients until just combined, ensuring a thick mixture.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips and then bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until mostly set in the center. Sprinkle with flaked sea salt before baking completes.
  • Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Notes

For an extra indulgence, use a mix of milk and semi-sweet chocolate chips.
Ensure the skillet is heated gently to avoid burning the butter.
