- 8 ounces spaghetti
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- ½ cup butter (unsalted)
- 1 medium onion (chopped)
- 4 cloves garlic (minced)
- salt and pepper (to taste)
- 2 teaspoons italian seasoning
- ½ cup white wine (such as sauvignon blanc)
- 1½ cups heavy cream
- 1 cup parmesan cheese (grated)
- ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes
Instructions
- Cook spaghetti according to package instructions. Reserve ½ cup of pasta water and drain.
- In a large skillet, add olive oil and butter; melt over medium heat.
- Add chopped onion and cook for 3 to 5 minutes until softened.
- Stir in minced garlic; cook for another 30 seconds until aromatic.
- Season with salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning.
- Pour in white wine and simmer for about 3 minutes.
- Add heavy cream and bring to a boil.
- Stir in the reserved pasta water and simmer for another 5 minutes until the sauce thickens.
- Remove from heat and stir in parmesan cheese until melted.
- Add cooked pasta; toss well to combine.
- Garnish with additional parmesan cheese and red pepper flakes.
Notes
Feel free to adjust the amount of red pepper flakes according to your heat preference.
For a lighter version, substitute half of the heavy cream with vegetable broth.
