Description
These Hot Chocolate Rice Krispie Treats combine the joy of classic treats with chocolatey goodness. Easy to make and perfect for cozy evenings or festive gatherings!

- ½ cup (113g) unsalted butter
- 20 ounces mini marshmallows
- 2 packets hot cocoa mix (about 2.5 oz or 75g)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 9 cups (240g) Rice Krispies cereal
- ¼ cup (36g) mini chocolate chips
Instructions
- Line a 9×13-inch pan with foil or parchment paper and spray lightly with nonstick spray.
- In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in 15 ounces of mini marshmallows until melted and smooth.
- Turn off the heat and add vanilla extract and hot cocoa mix, stirring until well combined.
- Add Rice Krispies cereal and stir gently to coat without melting the marshmallows.
- Fold in the remaining 5 ounces of mini marshmallows carefully to keep them intact.
- Transfer mixture to the prepared pan, pressing it evenly without squishing too much. Sprinkle mini chocolate chips on top.
- Let the treats cool for 30-45 minutes, then lift out of the pan and slice into squares.
Notes
Store treats in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
For gluten-free, use certified gluten-free Rice Krispies.
Experiment with flavor variations using different cocoa mixes or mix-ins.
