Description

This Mother’s Day Layer Cake features vibrant colors and a delicious buttercream frosting, making it a perfect choice for your celebrations. Easy to prepare and incredibly tasty, it will delight everyone at the table!


Ingredients

  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 ½ cups butter (softened)
  • 6 eggs
  • 1 ½ tbsp vanilla
  • 4 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 ½ tbsp baking powder
  • ¾ tsp salt
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • ½ cup butter (softened)
  • 4 cups confectioner's sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 23 tbsp milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350ºF.
  2. Prepare four 9-inch round cake pans by spraying them with cooking spray.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, beat together the sugar and softened butter until light and fluffy.
  4. Add the eggs and vanilla; beat again until well combined.
  5. Stir in the flour, baking powder, and salt, and beat until smooth.
  6. Slowly pour in the milk while continuously beating, ensuring the batter is smooth.
  7. Divide the batter equally into four bowls and add food coloring gel to each; mix well.
  8. Transfer the colored batter to the prepared cake pans.
  9. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  10. Allow cakes to cool in pans for 15 minutes before flipping them onto parchment paper to cool completely.
  11. For the frosting, beat the softened butter and confectioner's sugar together until crumbly.
  12. Mix in the vanilla and 2 tablespoons of milk; beat again until combined.
  13. Adjust consistency with additional milk as needed.
  14. Assemble the cake by layering it with frosting between each cake layer.
  15. Finish with a layer of frosting on top and add sprinkles.

Notes

For vibrant colors, use quality gel food coloring.
Ensure cakes cool completely before frosting to avoid melting.
This cake can be made a day in advance and stored in the refrigerator.
