Ingredients
Scale
- 24 nutter butter cookies, family-size package
- 1 cup candy melts, yellow, 6 ounces
- 48 candy eyes
- 48 sprinkles, round orange
- 1 cup icing, royal, white, 8 ounces
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, combine the candy melts and microwave at 50% power for 1 minute. Stir and then continue melting at 50% power in 30 second increments until smooth, stirring in between each increment.
- Dip the cookie into the melted candy, ensuring the face is completely covered, and let any excess drip off.
- Place the cookies on a cooling rack for 5 minutes to set.
- Press two candy eyeballs just above the halfway point of the cookie and immediately place two orange sprinkles underneath to form a beak. Allow the cookies to set for about 15 minutes.
- Use the royal icing to outline a broken eggshell at the top and bottom of each cookie. Fill the outline completely with royal icing and gently shake to even it out. Let the icing dry before serving.
Notes
These cookies are perfect for springtime celebrations.
Allow the melted candy to cool slightly before dipping the cookies to avoid melting them.
Use a piping bag for the royal icing for more precise designs.
