Description

These Oatmeal Molasses Dinner Rolls are soft, fluffy, and subtly sweet. Made with oats and molasses, they’re perfect alongside soups and hearty meals, or enjoyed warm with butter. Ideal for any gathering, this recipe combines simple ingredients for mouthwatering results that everyone will love!


Ingredients

  • 1 cup (240 ml) of warm water (~110°F or 43°C)
  • 1/3 cup (80 ml) of warm whole milk
  • 1 tablespoon (9 g) of instant yeast
  • 3 tablespoons of light or dark brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons (64 g) of molasses
  • 4 tablespoons (56 g) of unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup (85 g) of old-fashioned whole rolled oats
  • 3 and 1/2 cups (455 g) of bread flour
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 egg white beaten with a teaspoon of water for egg wash

Instructions

  • Whisk warm water and milk; add yeast and sugar, let sit.
  • Mix in remaining brown sugar, molasses, butter, oats, salt, and 1 cup of flour.
  • Knead the dough until soft and slightly sticky.
  • Let the dough rise until doubled in size.
  • Prepare baking pan and shape the dough into rolls.
  • Let rolls rise until puffy, then preheat oven to 350°F (177°C).
  • Brush with egg wash and bake for 26-27 minutes until golden.
  • Cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For a dairy-free version, use almond or soy milk instead of whole milk.
Store leftovers in an airtight container for 2-3 days or in the refrigerator for up to a week.
For added flavor, mix in herbs or spices into the dough.
