Ingredients

- 1 cup (240 ml) of warm water (~110°F or 43°C)
- 1/3 cup (80 ml) of warm whole milk
- 1 tablespoon (9 g) of instant yeast
- 3 tablespoons of light or dark brown sugar
- 3 tablespoons (64 g) of molasses
- 4 tablespoons (56 g) of unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup (85 g) of old-fashioned whole rolled oats
- 3 and 1/2 cups (455 g) of bread flour
- 1 teaspoon of salt
- 1 egg white beaten with a teaspoon of water for egg wash
Instructions
- Whisk warm water and milk; add yeast and sugar, let sit.
- Mix in remaining brown sugar, molasses, butter, oats, salt, and 1 cup of flour.
- Knead the dough until soft and slightly sticky.
- Let the dough rise until doubled in size.
- Prepare baking pan and shape the dough into rolls.
- Let rolls rise until puffy, then preheat oven to 350°F (177°C).
- Brush with egg wash and bake for 26-27 minutes until golden.
- Cool slightly before serving.
Notes
For a dairy-free version, use almond or soy milk instead of whole milk.
Store leftovers in an airtight container for 2-3 days or in the refrigerator for up to a week.
For added flavor, mix in herbs or spices into the dough.
