Description

These savory mashed sweet potatoes are creamy, flavorful, and easy to make. Perfect for cozy dinners or holiday feasts, this dish brings warmth to any table.


Ingredients

  • 3 pounds sweet potatoes
  • 34 tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons sour cream (or cream cheese, optional)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder (or 12 cloves minced garlic)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper
  • 3 tablespoons green onions
  • 1/2 teaspoon fresh thyme or rosemary, finely chopped (optional)

Instructions

  • Peel and cut sweet potatoes into 1-inch cubes.
  • Place cubed potatoes in a pot, cover with salted water, and boil. Simmer until fork-tender (10-15 min). Drain well.
  • Mash sweet potatoes until smooth using a masher or hand mixer.
  • Add butter and warmed milk, mix until creamy. Adjust milk for desired texture.
  • Stir in garlic powder, salt, pepper, green onions, and optional herbs. Mix well.
  • Serve in a bowl and garnish with a pat of butter and extra green onions.
