Description

This Seafood Mac and Cheese combines creamy cheese sauce, cavatappi pasta, and tender shrimp and crab for a delightful twist on a classic comfort food! It’s easy to prepare and perfect for any gathering or weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 ounces of cavatappi pasta
  • 3 tablespoons of unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons of all-purpose flour
  • 12 ounces of evaporated milk
  • 1 cup of half & half
  • 1 teaspoon of onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon of garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon of Old Bay seasoning
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • ¾ cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ¾ cup shredded white cheddar cheese
  • ¾ cup shredded gouda cheese
  • 8 ounces of cooked shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 8 ounces of imitation crab meat, roughly chopped

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  • Cook cavatappi pasta until al dente, rinse with cold water, and drain.
  • Melt butter in a saucepan, whisk in flour to create a roux, cooking until golden.
  • Slowly whisk in evaporated milk and half & half until thickened, about 3-4 minutes.
  • Stir in seasonings, then gradually melt in the cheeses until smooth.
  • Mix in pasta and seafood gently until well combined.
  • Transfer to baking dish, top with remaining cheeses, and bake for 15-20 minutes until bubbly and golden.
  • Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

For a dairy-free option, use plant-based butter and dairy-free milk alternatives.
For gluten-free, substitute cavatappi with gluten-free pasta.
Ensure shrimp is fully cooked before mixing into the dish.
