Ingredients
- Butter (3 tablespoons)
- Shrimp (1 pound, uncooked, size 31-40)
- Orzo Pasta (1 cup, uncooked)
- Garlic (4-5 cloves, minced)
- Crushed Red Pepper Flakes (1/4 – 1/2 teaspoon)
- Dry White Wine (1/2 cup)
- Chicken Broth (2 cups)
- Lemon Juice (1 tablespoon)
- Fresh Parsley (1 tablespoon, chopped)
- Salt and Pepper (to taste)
- Parmesan Cheese (freshly grated, optional)
Instructions
- Melt butter in a pot over medium-high heat, add shrimp and cook until pink.
- Sauté orzo, garlic, and red pepper flakes for about 2 minutes.
- Pour in wine and let bubble, then add chicken broth and gently boil.
- Simmer uncovered for 12 minutes, stirring frequently until orzo absorbs liquid.
- Return shrimp to pot with lemon juice and parsley, let sit off heat for 3 minutes.
Notes
Fresh shrimp yields the best flavor and texture.
Frequent stirring prevents sticking and clumping of orzo.
Customize spice level by adjusting red pepper flakes.
