Description

These Slow Cooker BBQ Meatballs are flavorful, tender, and easy to make—ideal for gatherings or cozy family dinners, with a perfect blend of spices and BBQ sauce.


Ingredients

  • 1 large egg
  • 2 pounds (907g) 93% lean ground turkey
  • 2/3 cup (40g) panko breadcrumbs
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 teaspoons dried oregano
  • 1 and 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 medium sweet onion, sliced
  • 1 and 3/4 cups (420g) BBQ sauce
  • 1/2 cup (120g) store-bought or homemade Italian dressing
  • 1 Tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  • Beat the egg in a mixing bowl.
  • Mix in ground turkey, panko, garlic, oregano, salt, paprika, and pepper until lightly combined.
  • Roll mixture into 1.5-inch meatballs and place on a baking sheet.
  • Layer sliced onion in the slow cooker, then add half of the BBQ sauce and Italian dressing.
  • Heat olive oil in a skillet and brown the meatballs lightly on all sides.
  • Layer browned meatballs over onions in the slow cooker, then pour the remaining sauce on top.
  • Cover and cook on low for 5 hours or high for 3 hours, until cooked through.

Notes

Avoid over-mixing the meatball mixture to keep them tender.
Use fresh herbs or spices to enhance flavor.
Allow meat mixture to come to room temperature for better flavor absorption.
