These Spiced Gingerbread Bars offer a delightful blend of flavors, perfect for any occasion. With easy prep and warm spices, they are a simple yet irresistible homemade treat.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1/2 cup butter melted
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cups brown sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
- 1/3 cup molasses
- 1 egg
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 2 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon allspice
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Prepare a 9"×13" baking pan by spraying it with non-stick cooking spray and setting it aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter, sugar, brown sugar, vanilla, and molasses. Beat this mixture until creamy for about 1-2 minutes. A stand mixer can make this easier due to the thickness of the batter.
- Add the egg to the mixture and stir until well mixed.
- Introduce the dry ingredients to the bowl and mix until a thick dough is formed, similar to cookie dough.
- Spread the dough evenly into the prepared baking pan using a silicone spatula or your fingers.
- Bake the mixture in the oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the edges are crispy and the center remains slightly gooey. Adjust baking time according to your oven.
- Allow the bars to cool completely before frosting, if desired, and cut them into squares. Optionally, add Christmas sprinkles.
Notes
For best results, use a stand mixer to handle the thick batter comfortably.
Be cautious with baking time as ovens may vary; adjust accordingly to achieve crispy edges and a gooey center.
