Description

These Spiced Gingerbread Bars offer a delightful blend of flavors, perfect for any occasion. With easy prep and warm spices, they are a simple yet irresistible homemade treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1/2 cup butter melted
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cups brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/3 cup molasses
  • 1 egg
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/4 teaspoon allspice
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Prepare a 9"×13" baking pan by spraying it with non-stick cooking spray and setting it aside.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the melted butter, sugar, brown sugar, vanilla, and molasses. Beat this mixture until creamy for about 1-2 minutes. A stand mixer can make this easier due to the thickness of the batter.
  • Add the egg to the mixture and stir until well mixed.
  • Introduce the dry ingredients to the bowl and mix until a thick dough is formed, similar to cookie dough.
  • Spread the dough evenly into the prepared baking pan using a silicone spatula or your fingers.
  • Bake the mixture in the oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the edges are crispy and the center remains slightly gooey. Adjust baking time according to your oven.
  • Allow the bars to cool completely before frosting, if desired, and cut them into squares. Optionally, add Christmas sprinkles.

Notes

For best results, use a stand mixer to handle the thick batter comfortably.
Be cautious with baking time as ovens may vary; adjust accordingly to achieve crispy edges and a gooey center.
