- 4 strips thick-cut bacon
- 1/2 medium onion (chopped)
- 4 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1/4 cup dry white wine
- 1/4 cup tomato paste (double concentrated)
- 1 cup heavy/whipping cream
- 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (or to taste)
- 1/2 cup freshly grated parmesan cheese
- 1 small handful fresh basil (sliced thin)
- Salt & pepper (to taste)
Instructions
- Boil water and cook pasta until al dente, then drain.
- Sauté chopped bacon in a skillet until crispy, then set aside, leaving the fat.
- Sauté onion in the same skillet until translucent, then add garlic and wine, cooking briefly.
- Incorporate tomato paste, cream, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes, simmering until thickened.
- Fold in bacon and basil, then add parmesan cheese until melted.
- Combine sauce with drained pasta, season, and serve hot.
Notes
For a healthier option, use turkey bacon or whole wheat pasta.
Adjust the crushed red pepper to control the spice level.
