This Sticky Panfried Garlic Lime Tofu features irresistible flavors, quick prep, and perfect for a cozy dinner or vibrant meal prep.
Ingredients

- 3 cloves garlic, grated
- 1 lime, zest and juice
- 1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil
- 2 teaspoons Sambal Oelek
- 5 tablespoons soy sauce
- ¼ cup water or vegetable broth
- ¼ cup light brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- 15 oz super-firm or extra-firm tofu
- Vegetable oil for cooking
- 1–2 green onions, sliced diagonally
- ½ cup fresh cilantro, roughly chopped
- 1 tablespoon toasted white sesame seeds
Instructions
- Mix garlic, lime zest, lime juice, sesame oil, Sambal Oelek, soy sauce, and water in a bowl.
- Cut tofu into ½-inch cubes and marinate with half of the sauce.
- For extra crispiness, coat tofu with cornstarch before cooking.
- Heat oil in a skillet and cook tofu until golden brown.
- Simmer reserved sauce in a saucepan to thicken.
- Make a slurry with part of the sauce and cornstarch; add to simmering sauce to thicken.
- Add thickened sauce to cooked tofu; mix well to coat.
- Serve warm, garnished with green onions, cilantro, and sesame seeds.
Notes
Press tofu well to remove excess moisture for best crispiness.
Feel free to adjust the sweetness of the sauce by altering the amount of brown sugar.
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
