Description

These STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE OREO BALLS are a sweet and easy dessert that combines the flavors of golden Oreos, cream cheese, and strawberries, making for an irresistible homemade treat! Perfect for any occasion or simply to satisfy your sweet tooth.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 36 golden oreo cookies finely crushed (15.25 oz pkg.)
  • 8 oz. brick cream cheese softened
  • 1 lb. almond bark candi-quik, melted
  • 12 oz freeze dried strawberries finely crushed

Instructions

  • Start by crushing the Golden Oreo cookies using a blender, food processor, or by smashing them in a sealed plastic bag with a meat mallet. Blending half at a time can help achieve a finer consistency.
  • Combine the crushed Oreo crumbs with the softened cream cheese, mixing until fully blended together.
  • Crush the freeze dried strawberries into fine crumbs, or chop them for larger pieces. Add these to the cookie mixture and stir well to incorporate.
  • Using a cookie scoop, portion out about 1.5 tablespoons of the mixture and roll it into balls. Place these on a cookie sheet lined with parchment or wax paper.
  • Freeze the balls for 20-30 minutes to firm up before dipping.
  • Melt the candy coating or melting chocolate in the microwave for approximately 1 minute and 20 seconds. Stir gently until smooth, returning to the microwave in 15-second intervals if necessary.
  • Carefully dip each ball into the melted chocolate and place them back onto the lined pan.
  • For a decorative drizzle, mix a few drops of pink or red food coloring into the leftover melted chocolate. Spoon this into a ziplock bag, snip a corner, and drizzle over each Oreo ball. Reserve and crush the cream filling from the leftover Oreo cookies to sprinkle on top.
  • After the chocolate coating and drizzle have set (just a few minutes), trim any excess chocolate around the bottoms of the Oreo balls for a neat finish.

Notes

For best results, crush the Oreos in small batches to achieve a fine crumb texture.
You can customize the flavor by using different types of melting chocolate, such as milk chocolate or semi-sweet.
Using a scoop for rolling the balls ensures that they are uniform in size and cooking time.
