Description

Enjoy a delightful Strawberry Shortcake Trifle with Angel Food Cake, combining fluffy cake, fresh strawberries, and creamy Greek yogurt whipped cream for a simple and flavorful dessert.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 Angel Food Cake (cut into 1" cubes)
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons cold water
  • 4 cups strawberries (quartered, and divided)
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
  • 3/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups plain Greek yogurt

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, combine cornstarch and cold water. Set aside.
  2. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, mix 2 cups of quartered strawberries, sugar, water, and lemon juice. Bring to a boil.
  3. Reduce heat to low and stir in the cornstarch slurry. Cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly, until the mixture is simmering.
  4. Add the remaining 2 cups of strawberries and cook for 1 more minute until thickened. Remove from heat.
  5. In a stand mixer or with a hand mixer, beat heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until medium peaks form.
  6. Add Greek yogurt and mix to combine.
  7. Assemble the trifle by placing 1/3 of the angel food cake cubes in a trifle dish. Dollop 1/3 of the Greek yogurt whipped cream over the cake and spread to cover.
  8. Spread 1/3 to 1/2 of the strawberry sauce over the whipped cream. Repeat the layering two more times: cake cubes, whipped cream, and strawberry sauce, finishing with sauce on top.
  9. Chill the trifle in the fridge for at least 1 hour before serving. Garnish with fresh strawberries before serving.

Notes

Trifle is best when served the same day it’s made or within 6-8 hours for optimal freshness.
Feel free to adjust the amount of strawberry sauce according to your preference for sweetness.
Fresh strawberries on top enhance the visual appeal and flavor.
