- 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
- 2 and 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- 1 teaspoon ground cardamom
- 2 teaspoons orange zest (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare pastry dough: Chill homemade or thaw store-bought pastry.
- Combine dry ingredients: Mix sugar with spices, dividing into two bowls.
- Roll out the dough: Roll dough into a square, applying sugar-spice mix to prevent sticking.
- Add flavor filling: Sprinkle the sugar-spice mix with orange zest on the dough.
- Create the log: Roll the dough from both sides toward the center and refrigerate.
- Repeat with the second dough portion: Follow rolling and filling steps again.
- Preheat oven: At 400°F, prepare baking sheets with parchment paper.
- Slice and arrange: Cut logs into slices and space on baking sheets.
- Bake until golden: Bake for 8-9 minutes, flip, and continue for 10-12 minutes until golden.
- Cool and enjoy: Allow cookies to cool before serving.
