Description

These Valentine Cinnamon & Spice Palmiers are a delicious blend of spices wrapped in flaky pastry. Perfect for celebrating love or enjoying any day!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb homemade rough puff pastry or store-bought frozen puff pastry (2 sheets)
  • 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
  • 2 and 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon ground cardamom
  • 2 teaspoons orange zest (optional)

Instructions

  • Prepare pastry dough: Chill homemade or thaw store-bought pastry.
  • Combine dry ingredients: Mix sugar with spices, dividing into two bowls.
  • Roll out the dough: Roll dough into a square, applying sugar-spice mix to prevent sticking.
  • Add flavor filling: Sprinkle the sugar-spice mix with orange zest on the dough.
  • Create the log: Roll the dough from both sides toward the center and refrigerate.
  • Repeat with the second dough portion: Follow rolling and filling steps again.
  • Preheat oven: At 400°F, prepare baking sheets with parchment paper.
  • Slice and arrange: Cut logs into slices and space on baking sheets.
  • Bake until golden: Bake for 8-9 minutes, flip, and continue for 10-12 minutes until golden.
  • Cool and enjoy: Allow cookies to cool before serving.

Notes

Avoid rolling dough too thin; it can affect flakiness.
Chill the dough before baking to maintain shape and texture.
Store in an airtight container for up to a week.
