Description

These Bacon Jam Brussels Sprouts are a mouthwatering side dish featuring crispy sprouts coated in a rich bacon jam. Ideal for weeknight dinners or special gatherings, this dish brings irresistible flavor with simple ingredients.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound Brussels sprouts
  • 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 6 slices thick-cut bacon
  • 1 medium yellow onion, diced
  • 2 shallots, minced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup light brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon chili powder (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 450°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Toss halved Brussels sprouts with olive oil, salt, and pepper on the baking sheet.
  • Roast Brussels sprouts for 20-25 minutes until tender and golden brown.
  • Cook diced thick-cut bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crispy, about 8-10 minutes.
  • Set cooked bacon aside, keeping some grease in the skillet.
  • Caramelize onions and shallots in the skillet over medium-low heat for 15-20 minutes.
  • Mix in garlic, brown sugar, maple syrup, apple cider vinegar, and bacon; simmer for 5 minutes.
  • Combine roasted Brussels sprouts with the bacon jam in the skillet; heat through for 2 minutes.
  • Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

For vegetarian options, substitute bacon with a plant-based alternative.
Make bacon jam ahead of time; it keeps well in the fridge for up to a week.
Avoid overcrowding the baking sheet for the best roasting results.
