Description

Ingredients

  • 1 stick unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon fine sea salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract for brownies
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract for cheesecake
  • 2 large eggs for brownies
  • 4 large eggs for cheesecake
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 24 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup light brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce, preferably salted
  • Optional: additional caramel drizzle and flaky sea salt

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 325°F (163°C). Grease a 9-inch springform pan.
  • Mix melted butter, sugar, cocoa powder, and salt until smooth; stir in vanilla and eggs, then fold in flour and spread into pan.
  • Bake for 15 minutes; cool completely.
  • In a separate bowl, beat cream cheese until smooth, add sugars, cream, eggs, and vanilla, then pour over browned base.
  • Bake for 55 minutes to 1 hour until set with a slight jiggle in the center. Cool in oven with door cracked.
  • Chill in refrigerator for at least 4 hours, then drizzle with caramel and sprinkle sea salt before serving.

Notes

Use room temperature ingredients for the best mixing results.
If the cheesecake cracks, a generous drizzle of caramel will enhance presentation.
Make it ahead of time for easier serving on special occasions.
