Description

These Classic Smash Burgers offer irresistible flavor with double patties and crispy edges, perfect for a quick and satisfying meal. Enjoy deliciousness with every bite!

Ingredients

Scale
  • pounds ground chuck (80% lean ground beef)
  • ½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon ground mustard
  • 1 teaspoon worcestershire sauce
  • ½ tablespoon vegetable oil, for cooking
  • heaping ¾ teaspoon kosher salt
  • 4 slices cheddar cheese
  • 4 hamburger buns (lightly toasted, if desired)
  • burger toppings of choice

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, mix ground beef with pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, ground mustard, and Worcestershire sauce. Avoid adding salt at this stage.
  2. Shape the mixture into 4 large meatballs and then flatten each into a 1-inch thick disc. Refrigerate for at least 15 minutes.
  3. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add vegetable oil. Season patties with salt before cooking.
  4. Place each patty in the skillet, pressing down to flatten each one. Cook for about 2 minutes until browned, then flip them over.
  5. Top the flipped burgers with cheese and cook for another 2 to 3 minutes depending on preferred doneness. Serve on buns with toppings.

Notes

For best flavor, allow the patties to chill before cooking.
Patties can be frozen for later use; defrost in the refrigerator before cooking.
