- 24 oz vegan ground beef
- ½ yellow onion, minced
- 1 cup parboiled white rice
- ¼ cup grated carrot
- ¼ cup raisins (optional)
- 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ¼ teaspoon black pepper
- 1 medium green cabbage
- Fresh dill, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- In a large skillet over medium heat, warm the olive oil.
- Add minced onion and salt, and sauté until the onion turns translucent, which takes about 2-3 minutes.
- Introduce minced garlic and sauté for another 2 minutes until fragrant.
- Stir in the tomato sauce, vegetable broth, sugar, and black pepper. Let the mixture simmer.
- Allow the sauce to simmer for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, then adjust seasoning to taste and set aside.
Notes
You can substitute the vegan ground beef with lentils for a different texture.
To make it spicier, add red pepper flakes when cooking the sauce.
Feel free to top with fresh dill for extra flavor before serving.
