Description

These Mexican Inspired Brownies bring together chocolate and spices for a delightful treat! With simple prep and rich flavors, they’re ideal for dessert lovers looking for easy homemade sweets.


Ingredients

  • 4 oz baking chocolate
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp cayenne pepper
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and line a 9×13-inch pan with foil, spraying it with cooking spray.
  2. In a large microwave-safe bowl, combine the baking chocolate and butter. Heat on HIGH for 2-3 minutes, stirring every 30 seconds until smooth. Stir in the sugar.
  3. Mix in the eggs, vanilla, 1 teaspoon of cinnamon, ¾ teaspoon of cayenne, salt, and 2 tablespoons of cocoa until well combined.
  4. Gently fold in the flour and then the mini chocolate chips.
  5. Spread the brownie batter evenly in the prepared pan. Bake for 20-25 minutes, checking with a toothpick until just a few crumbs stick to it. Allow to cool completely before cutting into squares.
  6. For the topping, whisk together the powdered sugar, ¼ teaspoon of cocoa, ¼ teaspoon of cinnamon, and a pinch of cayenne pepper. Sprinkle over the sliced brownies.

Notes

Make sure the chocolate is fully melted to achieve a smooth batter.
Letting the brownies cool completely before slicing helps them hold their shape better.
