Ingredients

  • Raisins (1/2 cup)
  • Dates, Cut Small (1/2 cup)
  • Apples, Diced (3)
  • Lemon Juice + Rind Grated (1 Lemon)
  • Medium Orange, Juice + Rind Grated (1)
  • Walnuts, Chopped (1/2 cup)
  • Honey (1 cup)
  • Flour (3 tbsp for filling + 2 1/2 cups for crust)
  • Butter Flavored Crisco (1 cup)
  • Salt (1 tsp)
  • Cold Water (5-6 tbsp)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400°F.
  • Combine flour, butter-flavored Crisco, and salt in a large bowl until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  • Gradually add cold water, stirring until dough comes together.
  • Roll out dough, place in pie pan, and prepare stuffing.
  • Mix raisins, dates, apples, lemon juice, orange juice, walnuts, honey, and flour together for filling.
  • Pour filling into pie crust and cover with second rolled-out dough layer.
  • Make slits on top for ventilation, then bake at 400°F for 20 minutes, reduce heat to 375°F for 25 more minutes.
  • Let cool slightly before serving.
